I loved this book. The writing was informative, the interviews were interesting, and the erotic fiction sprinkled in were hot and good examples of the previously explained kinky subject. I will definitely reread this again at some point in the future just because I liked it so much.
This was the first book in LovingBDSM's Kinky Readers book club (join here), but I read it after the August book so I could participate in August's book in August. I enjoyed reading this book because of the information held in it, and the fact that it was from 1 point of view (except when Libby took the reigns to give a submissive's perspective—my favorite parts). That said, however, I found the writing kind of dry and didn't feel as engaged while reading as I wanted to be. I would still recommend this book. The appendices in the back are super helpful.
I read this as part of the LovingBDSM's Kinky Readers book club (you can join here). I found it very interesting and informative. What I found most interesting was that each chapter was written by an "expert" of the chapter's topic. I liked that for the most part, but the constant shifting perspective was a little hard for me to focus on (though that may be due to my being completely mired in personal stuff for the previous week). There was a lot of good information in there and the clear chapter titles let me cherry-pick in what I wanted to read.
I read the first 6 books March-June of last year, but just got to the last book today. Let me just say I freaking love this series. Each book is a different couple, but most of them are connected, and are written by 4 authors (the continuity is kind of crazy given that fact). I would absolutely recommend this whole series.
I just read the last book in the Brie series by Red Phoenix and whew! I read the first 2 books in mid-February and early-March (respectively) and the other stories in April. I never thought I'd be super into BDSM (50 Shades romanticized abuse—no thank you), but here I am realizing that I am totally submissive and am also into some kinky sex. I don't think I could be in a relationship with as wide an age gap as Brie is, but I do love her training, relationships (especially with her Master), and even the other Dominants she comes in contact with. I definitely recommend this series (and buying the series in 3 books rather than all the super short stories/novellas the author has been releasing them in). My only complaint is Brie's constant repetition of the same mistake: lie by omission. And she's kind of judge-y, so while I like reading about her adventures, I don't know if I'd like to be her friend if she were real.
I read this trilogy (literally just the trilogy, Books 1-3, nothing that came after) in 3 days. I liked Damien and Nikki (though she sometimes annoyed me). I can't say I completely loved (don't get me wrong, I really liked) the series: the story was interesting, the characters fit well together, and there were some pretty hot scenes. One that really stuck out to me though was when they're describing a painting—you'll know it when you reach it—and it just really affected me. So, if you're looking for a BDSM trilogy that isn't 50 Shades, definitely try this one.
